La stazione ferroviaria di Selinunte venne inaugurata il 20 giugno 1910 lungo la linea Castelvetrano–Porto Empedocle.
Per molti anni collegò Marinella ai paesi vicini, diventando importante per il trasporto di persone e merci.
La stazione comprendeva un edificio per i viaggiatori, un magazzino merci e diversi binari ferroviari. Era presente anche un rifornitore d’acqua per le locomotive a vapore. Nel 1986 la linea ferroviaria venne chiusa e la stazione smise di funzionare. Oggi gli edifici sono ancora visibili e ben conservati Alcuni tratti dei vecchi binari sono stati lasciati a ricordo della storica ferrovia di Selinunte.
The Selinunte railway station was inaugurated on June 20, 1910, along the Castelvetrano–Porto Empedocle railway line. For many years, it connected Marinella with nearby towns and became important for the transport of people and goods. The station included a passenger building, a freight warehouse, and several railway tracks. There was also a water supply facility for steam locomotives.
In 1986, the railway line was closed and the station ceased operations. Today, the buildings are still visible and well preserved. Some sections of the old railway tracks have been left in place as a reminder of Selinunte’s historic railway line.
